Created from abandoned tobacco and bourbon warehouses, and doubling as a contemporary art museum with more than 9,000 square feet of exhibition space, this property has reclaimed-wood floors, hand-blocked linen upholstery, exposed brickwork and timber trusses, and glass transoms. "The art collection makes it such a fun place to stay." "Unique and creative" guest rooms have Herman Miller chairs, high ceilings, pewter mint julep cups, Malin and Goetz bath products, and rubber ducks in bathtubs. Proof on Main's menu is inspired by Italy and the American South, hence dishes like Marksbury Farm Bone-in Pork Chop or rye pasta carbonara, and a choice of more than 50 Kentucky bourbons, several bottled exclusively for the hotel. "It's an incredible place for such a small city."

"It's our hideaway close to home." This ivy-cloaked Tudor-style country house on 117 acres in the Berkshires is furnished with nineteenth-century antiques from France and England. Guest rooms have fireplaces, extensive book collections, and fabric-lined dresser drawers. Taking their lead from the "caring owner," "staff are always exceptionally warm." The main dining room offers a country-house dinner menu with French influences, accompanied by live piano music. "I wish the food were better, although the wine list is stupendous." In winter, snow barbecues are held next to the ice rink--a.k.a. the flooded tennis courts.

"There is something for all ages" at this "truly family-friendly," Addison Mizner-designed, Mediterranean-style resort on a private island. Rooms with wood furniture, overstuffed chairs, exposed beams, and Turkish rugs showcase views of the Black Banks River and the ocean. Staff "make you feel like you've arrived in another era, where manners and gentility are still the norm." Seven restaurants offer a variety of options. Omlet Casserole in a Crock Pot


 

Ingredients:
 26 ounces frozen hash brown potatoes
1 lb sausage, cooked and crumbled
2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, shredded
1/2 cup sun-dried tomato, julienne cut
6 green onions, sliced
12 eggs
1/2 cup milk (or half and half)
salt and pepper, to taste
1 pinch cayenne pepper

Directions:
 
1/Spray a 6 quart slow cooker with cooking spray or use a slow cooker liner (reynolds makes these) Layer 1/2 of the potatoes on the bottom of slow cooker, half of the sausage, 1/2 the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, 1/2 the sun dried tomatoes and green onion. Repeat with the remaining half of the same ingredients.
 
2/Beat eggs, milk, salt and pepper and cayenne in large bowl with a wire whisk until well blended.
 
3/Pour evenly over potato-sausage mixture.Cook on low setting for 8 hours or on high setting for 4 hours or until.
 
4/eggs are set.

Easy Mexican Casserole
Ingredients:
 1 lb lean ground beef
2 cups salsa
1 (16 ounce) can chili beans, drained
1 (15 ounce) can corn
1 1/2 cups tortilla chips, crushed
2 cups light sour cream
1 (3 7/8 ounce) can sliced black olives, drained
3/4 cup chopped green onion
1 cup diced tomato (you can use 15-oz can diced tomatoes if drained well)
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Directions:
1/Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Spray a 9x13 baking dish with nonstick cooking spray; set aside.
 
2/In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef until no longer pink. Stir in salsa, reduce heat, and simmer 20 minutes, or until liquid is absorbed. Stir in beans and corn, and cook just until heated through.
 
3/Spread crushed tortilla chips in bottom of prepared baking dish, and then spoon beef mixture over chips. Spread sour cream over the beef layer, and then sprinkle olives, green onion, and tomato over the sour cream layer.

4/Bake in preheated 350° oven for 25 to 30 minutes. Top with cheddar cheese and return to oven to bake another 5 minutes or just until the cheese starts to melt.

 Bourbon chicken

Ingredients:
2 lbs boneless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces
1 -2 tablespoon olive oil
1 garlic clove, crushed
1/4 teaspoon ginger
3/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 cup apple juice
1/3 cup light brown sugar
2 tablespoons ketchup
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1/2 cup water
1/3 cup soy sauce

Directions:
1/Heat oil in a large skillet.
2/Add chicken pieces and cook until lightly browned.
3/Remove chicken.
4/Add remaining ingredients, heating over medium Heat until well mixed and dissolved.
5/Add chicken and bring to a hard boil.
6/Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
7/Serve over hot rice and ENJOY.

A Rooftop Bar And More Is In Store At The Peninsula Paris

We’ve been aching for more details on what Peninsula Hotels has in store for us in Paris, having walked past the construction site on Avenue Kléber earlier this year and last spring. After playing around with their seriously high-tech bedside tablets, we finally have a few more details on what’s going to be inside the 1908 Beaux Arts building in the city’s 16th arrondissement come opening time next year.

First of all, say it with us: rooftop bar, rooftop bar! One of our favorite hotel pursuits will be possible at the Peninsula Paris, with a planned rooftop restaurant, bar, and terrace serving ‘modern French cuisine’. The terrace has capacity for 50 people, so we bet this is going to be one hot ticket once the sun is out. Equally, you can bet we will be getting our behinds up there toute suite after opening to tell you all about it.
